Digvijaya Singh Ram Mandir corruption protest

Overview

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Digvijaya Singh announced the ‘Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’, a foot march intended to protest alleged corruption and lack of transparency in the management of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Singh raised concerns regarding the mismanagement of cash, foreign currency, and precious metal offerings, suggesting discrepancies could reach between 200 and 300 crore rupees. He also questioned the rising construction costs and demanded a public accounting of donations.

On October 20, Singh launched the 950-kilometer ‘Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’ from Ujjain. The 70-day pilgrimage involves walking through various districts in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh to reach Ayodhya. Singh stated the march aims to address administrative issues and theft incidents at religious sites, maintaining that the journey is not for political gain. Approximately 3,000 people participated in the first day of the march.
