Dimitris Kokotas funeral held in Agia Varvara
Greek singer Dimitris Kokotas was honored at his funeral on Friday, August 28, at the Holy Church of Panagia Eleousa in Agia Varvara. The 57-year-old artist passed away on Tuesday, August 25, following a prolonged health battle that began in March 2024 after suffering a myocardial infarction during a television rehearsal.
Kokotas had been in a coma and receiving intensive care at Georgios Gennimatas Hospital for approximately two and a half years. His widow, Katerina Petraki, delivered a moving eulogy, describing him as ‘half of my life’ and expressing gratitude for the child they shared.
The Agia Varvara Municipality, where Kokotas served as a municipal councilor, announced it would cover the funeral expenses. The municipality also decided to name the assembly hall of the Municipal Conservatory after him and establish an annual scholarship in his memory. The ceremony was attended by numerous figures from the Greek music industry, including Foivos, Grigoris Bithikotsis, and Stelios Dionysiou.
