Dinamo Bucharest Considers Ending George Pușcaș Contract Amid Injury Recovery

Romanian club Dinamo Bucharest is weighing the termination of striker George Pușcaș’s contract after his recent hernia‑inguinal surgery and a prolonged recovery period. The club offered Pușcaș a two‑year extension, which the player declined, prompting officials to contemplate ending the deal to avoid allocating resources to a player who may not continue with the team.

Pușcaș, who joined Dinamo in February 2026, has struggled with medical problems throughout the 2025‑2026 season, missing key matches, including the playoff against FCSB. After surgery in London, he appeared at a friendly against Farul on 11 July 2026 and is expected to resume full training in August, with a target to be match‑fit by September. Club president Andrei Nicolescu indicated that a medical clearance will determine his integration back into the squad.

The situation has drawn criticism from former Dinamo players, who argue the club mishandled the medical timeline. If the contract is terminated, Pușcaș would become a free agent, potentially signing elsewhere after his current deal expires in June 2027.
