Diners Club launches new Gold card for ages 20–39
Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Club has launched ‘Diners Club Gold’, a new credit card specifically targeting individuals aged 20 to 39. The card, which began issuance on October 1, 2026, is available exclusively through online applications.
The launch follows market research indicating a trend toward younger users acquiring gold-tier credit cards. A survey of 100 individuals in their 20s revealed that while point rewards (48%) are the primary motivator, social status (45%) and practical daily benefits (44%) are also highly valued. Furthermore, 45% of respondents indicated they would be willing to pay an annual fee of 30,000 yen or more for a card that offers clear value.
Key features of the new card include a 10x point bonus on specific services such as Starbucks Card auto-charges, Uber, and various subscription services. Additional benefits include a full cashback of monthly fees for Tabelog Premium and a six-month trial of Ikyu Premier ‘Platinum Member’ status. The first year of the annual fee is free, and the fee for subsequent years is waived if the previous year's spending exceeds 1 million yen.
