Dinslaken proposes relocating Bücherstube Lohberg library

The Dinslaken city administration has proposed relocating the Bücherstube Lohberg library from its current location in the Ledigenheim to a municipal building at Hauerstraße 14. The new site, located near the former Johannesschule, would offer a significantly smaller space and rely primarily on volunteers.

The proposal includes potential cooperation with the Theater Halbe Treppe and the Dinslaken Boxing and Sports Club, both of which are located in the adjacent former school buildings. The administration noted that both organizations have expressed interest in such a partnership.

The move is driven by necessary municipal budget cuts. While the city has terminated the current lease for the Ledigenheim effective December 31, 2026, the administration was tasked with finding a cost-effective way to maintain educational offerings. The Dinslaken City Council will make a final decision following deliberations in the cultural committee in early September.
