Diogo Moreira nears promotion to Honda factory team

Brazilian rider Diogo Moreira is reportedly close to securing a seat with the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) factory team starting in 2027. Currently competing in his debut MotoGP season with the LCR satellite team, the 22-year-old has demonstrated strong performance, frequently finishing as the top-performing rider on a Japanese motorcycle.

Following a consistent weekend at the Aragon Grand Prix, where he secured 9th place in the main race and 10th in the sprint, Moreira has solidified his case for promotion. While an official announcement is expected to be delayed until the Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi for marketing reasons, the move is viewed as a significant step in his career.

If the promotion occurs, his current position at LCR may be filled by Moto2 prospect David Alonso. Moreira has noted that while he is performing well and consistently reaching the top 10, further progress will require significant technical advancements to the current Honda motorcycle package.
