Director sentenced for social insurance fraud in Hanoi

Dang Dinh Tu, director of Bao Tu Private Enterprise, has been sentenced to 18 months of suspended prison time for social and unemployment insurance fraud. The ruling was issued by the Hanoi Area 6 People's Court on September 20.

Between 2021 and 2024, Tu directed his wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and an accountant to collect social insurance contributions for 12 acquaintances. He then ordered the creation of fraudulent documents, including fake salary payment slips, labor contracts, and personal income tax finalizations, to allow these individuals to claim maternity and convalescence benefits.

The scheme resulted in a loss of 409.67 million VND to the social insurance fund. Tu admitted to the crimes, and Bao Tu Private Enterprise has since fully reimbursed the damaged amount. The court noted Tu's cooperation with authorities and his clean criminal record when deciding on a suspended sentence.
