Discovery Learning and Mind Mapping improve student problem-solving skills

A study conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh investigated the impact of the Discovery Learning (DL) model combined with Mind Mapping on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of high school students. Using a quantitative approach with a One Group pretest-posttest design, the research focused on quadratic equations among 30 tenth-grade students.

The results indicated a significant improvement in problem-solving skills. The average score increased from 56.37 in the pre-test to 83.76 in the post-test. Statistical analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the DL and Mind Mapping approach, as the calculated t-value of 15.14 exceeded the t-table value of 1.69.
