Educational research on math learning models in Aceh

Overview

Research conducted in Aceh, Indonesia, has explored various cooperative learning models to enhance mathematical problem-solving skills among students.

An initial study at SMA Negeri 5 Banda Aceh focused on tenth-grade students, finding that combining the Discovery Learning model with Mind Mapping significantly improved abilities regarding quadratic equations. The study reported an increase in average scores from 56.37 to 83.76.

Subsequent research at MTsN 6 Pidie investigated the Jigsaw cooperative learning model paired with peer tutoring strategies. This quasi-experimental study demonstrated that students using these methods showed a significant increase in mathematical problem-solving abilities when studying linear equation systems compared to those receiving conventional instruction.
