Disney advances Abu Dhabi theme park development

Disney is advancing development plans for its first Middle Eastern theme park in Abu Dhabi. Recent concept artwork released by Aldar for the neighboring Yas Point development suggests the resort may feature outdoor entertainment, such as fireworks displays, despite the region's climate typically favoring indoor attractions.

To ensure the park is “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati,” Disney Imagineers have conducted research into local landmarks and heritage. Footage revealed during the D23 convention shows design teams visiting significant sites, including the Al Ain Oasis and the Sultan Bin Zayed Fort. This research aims to integrate local culture into the pre-planning stages of the project on Yas Island.
