Disney+ and Pokémon announce global distribution deal
Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International have entered a global distribution agreement to bring Pokémon content to the streaming service. The deal includes the upcoming stop-motion animated series, “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu,” which is scheduled for a worldwide release in 2027 on Disney+ and Disney XD.
Produced by the British animation studio Aardman, the new series will follow the characters Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they navigate the Galar Region. The announcement, made during the Pokémon XP event in San Francisco, also included a teaser trailer for the project.
Additionally, the agreement covers the classic “Pokémon the Series: The Beginning,” featuring Ash and Pikachu. This series has already begun airing on Disney XD and is currently streaming on Disney+ in the United States and select international markets.
