Disney+ and Pokémon announce global distribution partnership

Disney+ and The Pokémon Company International have entered a global distribution agreement to bring Pokémon content to the streaming platform and Disney XD. The deal includes the upcoming stop-motion series, ‘Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu’, produced by the British animation studio Aardman. Set in the Galar region, the series is scheduled to premiere in 2027.

Additionally, the agreement brings the classic ‘Pokémon the Series: The Beginning’, featuring Ash and Pikachu, to Disney+. This series is already available on Disney+ in the United States and select international markets, with a planned rollout to Latin America in 2027.

The announcement was made during Pokémon XP, a fan convention held in San Francisco alongside the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, noted that the franchise maintains relevance for both long-time fans and younger audiences through these new creative perspectives.
