Disney announces Descendants spin-off musical Hidden Heroes

Disney has greenlit a new musical film, ‘Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story’, set within the Descendants franchise. The production is slated to film in Vancouver between August 10 and September 26, 2026.

The film focuses on the descendants of iconic Disney sidekicks, including characters from ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, and ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’. The plot follows a group of recruits at a Sidekick Academy who must defend the fairytale realm from a villainous duo.

Directed by Jude Weng, the cast includes Dior Goodjohn, Momona Tamada, Jacob Rodriguez, Eva Fossaceca Smedley, and Harry Jones. The announcement follows the global success of ‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland’, which recently became the top movie on Disney+ globally.
