Overview

Disney released the fifth Descendants film, *Wicked Wonderland*, on Disney+ on July 17, 2026, following a Disney Channel premiere on July 16. The *Wicked Wonderland* soundtrack, which features the single “Mad-Wicked Wonderland” and the duet “The Girl I Used To Be” by Brandy Norwood and Rita Ora, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Kid Albums chart and No. 2 on the Soundtracks chart. Senior vice-president of music Steven Vincent noted a deliberate return to traditional vocal performances.

Building on the franchise's success, Disney has greenlit a new spin-off musical, *Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story*, scheduled to film in Vancouver in late 2026. Directed by Jude Weng, the film will focus on the descendants of iconic Disney sidekicks at a Sidekick Academy. The plot follows recruits at this secret training facility as they attempt to defend the fairytale world from a villainous duo without the assistance of heroes or parents. The new cast includes Dior Goodjohn as Jennie, Momona Tamada as Zara, Jacob Rodriguez as Kronk Jr., Eva Fossaceca Smedley as Meri, and Harry Jones as Lou.
