Disney Begins Roof Refurbishment at EPCOT's Germany Pavilion

The Walt Disney Company has started a major exterior renovation of Das Kaufhaus, the merchandise shop in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT, Walt Disney World Resort. Crews are stripping the steep, dormer‑lined roof on both the east and west façades. The west side, facing the Italy Pavilion, retains sections of its original red‑burgundy shingles while other areas have been removed to expose the underlayment. The east side is further along, with all shingles stripped and a small patch of new dark shingle already installed, indicating reconstruction has begun.

Das Kaufhaus remains open to guests throughout the project, and Disney has not provided a completion date. The refurbishment is notable for its visibility, as the roof’s distinctive silhouette is a landmark of the World Showcase promenade.
