Walt Disney World EPCOT pavilion renovations

Overview

In early July 2026 Disney added scaffolding, rolling planters and barriers around the Germany World Showcase Pavilion, sparking speculation about a cosmetic retheme. After the Fourth of July weekend crews removed patriotic signage from the American Adventure Pavilion, exposing chipped paint and a torn metal anchor on the iconic white columns. Exterior metal and waterproofing work, contracted to Tecta America Corp., patched interior paint and installed refurbishment boxes around the most damaged columns while shows continued.

By mid‑July Disney confirmed removal of the "Portraits of Courage" exhibit and further interior touch‑ups. Roof work on the Germany Pavilion’s Das Kaufhaus began on July 28, stripping the red‑burgundy shingles and covering them with brown scrim fabric. Early August crews were seen stripping shingles on both east and west façades; a small patch of new dark shingle has already been installed on the east side. Das Kaufhaus stays open, though some entrances may close when work is overhead, and the adjacent Stein Haus façade remains blocked by scaffolding. No completion date has been announced, and Disney has not confirmed whether additional pavilion structures will be renovated.
