Netflix and Disney+ announce major changes for Malaysian subscribers

Streaming services are implementing significant changes for users in Malaysia. Netflix has increased subscription fees across all its tiers. The Mobile plan rose by RM1 to RM19.90, the Basic plan increased by RM4 to RM33.90, the Standard plan rose by RM6 to RM55.90, and the Premium plan saw the largest hike of RM7, reaching RM69.90 per month. Additionally, the cost for adding an extra member to a subscription has increased from RM13 to RM14.90.

Separately, Disney+ has announced the launch of a new app in Malaysia scheduled for 7 October 2026. While existing subscribers can access the new interface at no extra cost, they will be required to set up their primary profiles again, as watchlists and viewing histories will not be transferred. Under the new structure, Basic subscribers will be transitioned to a Standard plan featuring 1080p video quality and support for two simultaneous streams.
