Disney+ content and sports broadcasting updates

Disney+ has entered into a partnership with Formula E, ESPN, and ABB FIA to become the global streaming platform for the Formula E World Championship. Beginning with the 2026/27 season, the service will broadcast to 144 countries and territories, while ESPN+ will manage coverage in the United States.

The agreement provides subscribers with full coverage of race weekends, including practice sessions, qualifying, and races, alongside analysis and behind-the-scenes content. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds stated the deal is intended to “accelerate global growth during the upcoming GEN4 era.”

As of September 2026, the platform is expanding its content catalog with diverse programming. Sports updates include the broadcasting of the 2026-2027 LALIGA EA SPORTS season and the UEFA Women’s Champions League, with matchdays scheduled to begin on September 22.

New original productions and featured titles include ‘City of Blood’, ‘Yacht Deals Monaco’, ‘Chad Powers’, and the French series ‘Surveillant !’. The catalog is also being bolstered by major film releases such as ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, and various Marvel Studios titles like ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. Other additions include ‘The Hunger Games’, ‘John Wick’, and Japanese animation such as ‘Naruto’ and ‘One Piece’.

In Malaysia, Disney+ is preparing to launch a new app on 7 October 2026. While existing subscribers can access the new interface at no extra cost, they must set up primary profiles again, as watchlists and viewing histories will not be transferred. Under this new structure, Basic subscribers will transition to a Standard plan that features 1080p video quality and support for two simultaneous streams.
