Disney reportedly planning fourth round of layoffs by end of September

The Walt Disney Company is reportedly preparing a fourth round of layoffs to be implemented by the end of September. According to reporting by Matthew Belloni for Puck News, these cuts are expected to be “more limited and focused in H. R., product/tech, and other operations functions.”

This upcoming reduction follows several rounds of workforce changes earlier this year. In April, approximately 1,000 employees were laid off, affecting marketing, branding, and roughly 8 percent of Marvel Entertainment. A second round in July impacted hundreds of staff across Pixar, ESPN, and Disney Entertainment Television. In August, the company reportedly offered early retirement packages to director-level executives and above.

The current timing aligns with the end of Disney’s fiscal year in late September, a period when companies often adjust headcount before closing their books. The reported cuts are not expected to involve the Disney parks and experiences division, nor do they involve the large-scale television consolidation that had been the subject of recent speculation. Disney has declined to comment on the reports.
