Disney's Haunted Mansion Gets Facade Refresh at Magic Kingdom as Classic Rides Close in Anaheim and Tokyo

The exterior of the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has been fully refreshed. The scrims covering the facade were removed, revealing a new green patina on the dome finial, lighter cornerstone bricks, a refreshed roof and cleaned ironwork. The renovation completes the visual update that began months earlier, though construction fencing remains at ground level as work continues nearby.

Meanwhile, Disney is closing the classic Haunted Mansion attractions for seasonal overhauls. Tokyo Disneyland’s version will close on August 4, 2026, and reopen on September 15 as the Haunted Mansion “Holiday Nightmare” overlay, running through early January 2027 with a second refurbishment scheduled for early 2027. Disneyland in Anaheim will close on August 8, 2026, and return on August 21 with its Holiday overlay for the park’s Halloween Time celebration.
