Distrito Federal candidates clash over R$ 120 million health fund transfer

During a televised debate for the Distrito Federal governorship, candidate Leandro Grass (PT) accused incumbent Governor Celina Leão (PP) of transferring R$ 120 million from the District Health Fund to the Banco de Brasília (BRB).

Grass alleged the funds, intended for hospitals and basic health units, were moved to the BRB to cover budget gaps. Official documents from the Health Secretariat indicate the transfer occurred on September 21, with a subsequent request for regularization issued on September 22. The BRB reported that the funds were applied in a Certificate of Bank Deposit (CDB), generating R$ 57,898.80 in returns.

In response to shifting polling data, Leão’s campaign has intensified efforts to leverage anti-PT sentiment. Following the removal of former governor José Roberto Arruda from the race by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the campaign is now focusing on associating Grass with President Lula to secure a first-round victory.
