Diyarbakır hosts educational workshops for refugee and local children

The Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education organized the ‘Play, Family, and Child Day at the Heart of Education’ event at the Şehit Polis Halit Gülser Sports Complex in the Kayapınar district. The program is part of the ‘Early Childhood Education for Syrian and Needy Turkish Children in Türkiye’ project, conducted through a partnership between the Ministry of National Education’s General Directorate of Basic Education and the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ).

The event featured 22 different workshops designed to support the physical, social, and emotional development of approximately 2,000 participating students. Activities included robotics, 3D design, ebru art, puppet design, weaving, science experiments, and board games. Additionally, workshops such as birdhouse painting and planting were included to foster environmental awareness.

Attendees included high-ranking officials such as Ebubekir Sıddık Savaşçı, General Director of Basic Education, and Salih Sadoğlu, Diyarbakır Provincial Director of National Education, alongside GIZ representatives, teachers, and families. The initiative aims to strengthen the cooperation between schools and families while encouraging learning through play and traditional culture.
