Childhood development initiatives in Diyarbakır
Overview
In Diyarbakır, various organizations have launched initiatives to support the cultural and educational development of children.
Initially, the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry partnered with the Önce Çocuklar Association to fund the ‘Şanozar’ Kurdish Children's Theater Project. This six-month program focuses on providing socio-economically disadvantaged children aged 9 to 15 with access to arts through workshops in creative writing, improvisation, and storytelling.
Following this, the Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education, in collaboration with the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), organized a large-scale educational event. Part of a project for Syrian refugee and needy Turkish children, the program included 22 workshops—ranging from robotics and 3D design to traditional ebru art—aimed at supporting the physical, social, and emotional development of approximately 2,000 students.
