Infrastructure projects advance across Romania and Moldova
Various infrastructure developments are underway across Romania and Moldova, focusing on water, road, and energy networks. In Romania, the modernization of the DJ 104D road between Șoarș and Bărcut has reached 80% completion, while the Valea Doftanei–Săcele route is at 28%. In Baia Mare, municipal authorities are targeting an 80% completion rate for water and sewage network rehabilitation by year-end. Additionally, the modernization of the road in Sibiu (Calea Șurii Mari) is entering its final asphalt stage, and a new roundabout is being planned for Sânmihaiu Român in Timiș County.
Cross-border connectivity is also a key focus. The bridge over the Prut River at Ungheni, linking Romania and Moldova, has reached 56% physical completion, with a target finish date of December 2027. Meanwhile, work on the 400 kV Suceava–Bălți electric line is expected to begin in Romania by early 2027 to enhance energy links between the two nations. In Moldova, a temporary bridge between Cosăuți and Iampol is 65% complete, intended for technological use during the construction of a permanent structure. Local water access has also improved in Pivniceni, Dondușeni, following the construction of a new aqueduct.
