DJ Dani Brasil arrested after fatal hit-and-run in São Paulo

Daniel Santana de Jesus, known as DJ Dani Brasil, was arrested in flagrante in São Paulo after a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a BMW. On Friday morning, the DJ allegedly ignored police orders to stop while driving the wrong way in the Santo Amaro district. During the pursuit, he struck 57-year-old Carlos Minotti, a man experiencing homelessness who was sleeping on the sidewalk.

The victim was dragged approximately 400 to 900 meters as the vehicle entered a local sports club. Despite rescue efforts and resuscitation attempts at a local health unit, Minotti succumbed to his injuries. Following the collision, the driver abandoned the vehicle, jumped a fence, and attempted to hide by jumping into a club swimming pool, where police eventually apprehended him.

Breathalyzer tests confirmed the driver was intoxicated, recording levels between 0.6 and 0.71. The DJ has been indicted for homicide with eventual intent, disobedience, and driving under the influence. His defense attorney stated that the artist was in a state of shock and claimed the incident may have been influenced by the consumption of alcohol and zolpidem following the recent loss of a pet.
