Fatal hit-and-run involving DJ Dani Brasil

Overview

Daniel Santana de Jesus, known as DJ Dani Brasil, was arrested in flagrante in São Paulo following a fatal hit-and-run in the Santo Amaro district. While driving a BMW against traffic and allegedly ignoring police orders, Santana struck 57-year-old Carlos Minotti, a man experiencing homelessness who was sleeping on the sidewalk. The victim was reportedly dragged between 400 and 900 meters before succumbing to his injuries at a medical unit.

Following the collision, Santana abandoned his vehicle and attempted to evade capture by jumping a fence and hiding in a club swimming pool. Breathalyzer tests conducted by police indicated intoxication levels between 0.6 and 0.71. Santana has been indicted for homicide with eventual intent, disobedience, and driving under the influence.

In response to the arrest, defense attorneys have claimed that Santana was experiencing a “psychotic break” caused by the consumption of alcohol and the sedative Zolpidem. The legal team stated the musician was grieving the recent loss of a pet and does not remember the incident.
