Djavan celebrates 50-year career with sold‑out shows in Rio

Brazilian singer Djavan, 77, opened his "Djavanear 50 anos – Só Sucessos" tour at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, August 25. Tickets sold out within hours, prompting the addition of two extra dates on Sunday and the following Saturday.

The concert featured a string of his classic hits such as "Sina," "Eu te Devoro," "Boa Noite," "Cigano," "Oceano," and "Azul," as well as a tribute to the late Gal Costa with a performance of "O Vento." A crowd of celebrities—including Fátima Bernardes, Maria Ribeiro, Nanda Costa, Emilie Rey, Malu Galli, and others—joined fans in a lively, sing‑along atmosphere. Djavan expressed gratitude to Rio, saying the city gave him life as an artist, and the audience responded with enthusiastic applause and chants that continued after the show.

He is scheduled to perform two more shows in the city on the added dates, completing the first leg of his 50‑year career celebration tour.
