DJI introduces ROMO P2 autonomous robot vacuum
DJI has introduced the ROMO P2, a robot vacuum cleaner that applies the company’s expertise in drone navigation and spatial perception to domestic cleaning. Unlike traditional vacuum robots that follow fixed paths, the ROMO P2 functions more like an autonomous vehicle, using real-time decision-making to navigate complex environments.
The device utilizes a combination of two fisheye cameras, LiDAR, and Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors to map homes and identify obstacles. This technology allows it to detect very small objects, such as 2mm cables, as well as transparent obstacles like glass or plastic. It also features front lighting to facilitate cleaning in low-light conditions.
A standout feature is an extendable cleaning arm guided by LiDAR, which can rotate up to 123 degrees. This arm provides an additional 7.8 centimeters of reach compared to the original ROMO model and allows the mop to reach up to 4.5 centimeters deeper under furniture.
