Djibouti reviews $30 million digital infrastructure projects
Djibouti’s Minister of Communication, Post, and Telecommunications, Mohamed Abdoulkader Moussa Helem, presided over steering committees for two major digital initiatives: the Djibouti Digital Foundation (DFN) and the East Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EARDIP).
Funded by the World Bank through the International Development Association, the projects represent a combined $30 million investment. The DFN, valued at $10 million, has completed 26 of its 35 activities, with a disbursement rate of 56%. The EARDIP, valued at $20 million, aims to expand cross-border terrestrial links, deploy twelve 4G mobile sites, and construct fiber optic loops to Dikhil, Tadjourah, and Obock.
Minister Helem called for the acceleration of remaining activities to ensure concrete results before the project's scheduled conclusion on June 30, 2027.
