DK Metcalf receives Steelers' support amid slow start

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is facing scrutiny following a difficult start to the season. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF) data, Metcalf has recorded eight receptions on 18 targets for 67 yards and zero touchdowns, ranking 74th out of 78 qualified receivers. His performance has been marked by three drops, a 27.3% drop rate on on-target passes, which is among the highest in the league for receivers with at least 10 targets.

Despite the statistics, Steelers coach Mike McCarthy has expressed full confidence in the veteran receiver. McCarthy stated that the team continues to support Metcalf and intends to keep targeting him in the passing game, noting his professionalism and extra skill work. Metcalf also noted that his teammates have been supportive in helping him maintain focus.

The Steelers are scheduled to host the Cincinnati Bengals at Acrisure Stadium this Sunday. The Bengals enter the matchup with a defense that ranks second in both sacks and defensive EPA.
