DMD Catalunya denounces judicial delay in Francesc Augé euthanasia case

DMD Catalunya has expressed profound indignation following the attempted suicide of Francesc Augé, which they attribute to a 768-day judicial blockade. Augé, who suffered from multiple strokes and cardiac issues since 2020, had his euthanasia approved by the Commission of Guarantee and Evaluation of Catalonia in July 2024.

Despite his father withdrawing the legal opposition to the procedure in August 2026, the Barcelona courts failed to reactivate the file. DMD Catalunya argues that this institutional paralysis and judicial inaction constitute inhumane treatment, preventing Augé from exercising his legal right to a dignified death through euthanasia.
