Dmitry Medvedev says Russia must win in Ukraine to counter Western pressure
Russia’s Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, asserted that Russia can only safeguard its sovereignty by achieving victory in its “special military operation” in Ukraine. He accused Western nations of using Ukraine as a “card” to weaken Russia through sanctions and economic measures, stating that “the only way to protect the country is to win the special military operation.”
Medvedev added that the West is attempting a strategic strike against Russia not only on the battlefield but also economically, and he predicted these efforts will fail. Earlier in the week, President Vladimir Putin echoed similar sentiments, saying Russia’s political and state institutions are ready to repel any hostile actions and that Western sanctions have harmed Europe more than Russia.
