DMK accuses Rahul Gandhi of betraying Tamil Nadu allies after election

DMK leader TKS Elangovan, speaking to ANI and through the party newspaper Murasoli, attacked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for supporting the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) after the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Gandhi’s party had backed TVK, which emerged as the single‑largest party, prompting Elangovan to say, “Immediately after the elections, his MLAs shifted their allegiance to TVK, and two of his MLAs got minister posts. Now, whatever he speaks, the people of Tamil Nadu will not accept.” The DMK denounced Gandhi as “politically immature” and “dishonest,” alleging a pattern of Congress undermining regional allies during state polls while seeking their support for national elections. The criticism was reiterated in a second ANI release, which quoted the mouthpiece’s claim that Congress “does everything possible to prevent fellow INDIA‑bloc partners from coming to power” in state elections. In response, the DMK boycotted an INDIA‑bloc meeting, while the CPI(M) also voiced concerns over Congress’s tactics.
