DMK President M. K. Stalin expands party districts to 110

DMK President M. K. Stalin has announced a major restructuring of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party organization. The number of party districts will increase from 77 to 110 to allow for better micromanagement of party affairs and to adapt to changing times.

Under the new structure, Chennai will be divided into 10 party districts, up from six. Due to its high population, the Sholinganallur Assembly constituency will be designated as a single, separate party district. Most other revenue districts will also see an increase in district units, with the exception of Kancheepuram, Perambalur, and Ariyalur.

Stalin directed existing district secretaries to hold executive committee meetings and submit plans for the division of town, union, regional, and branch-level units within two weeks. This reorganization follows a decision made during an executive committee meeting on August 22 and precedes the party's 16th organizational election.
