DMK Youth Wing Accuses Congress of Betrayal After Tamil Nadu Election

Following the Tamil Nadu assembly election, DMK youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin publicly condemned the Indian National Congress for joining the Tamil Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government without consulting the DMK. Stalin said the party “lacked minimum decency and gratitude” and warned that Congress should not be trusted in any future alliance.

At a DMK youth meeting in Chennai, a resolution also denounced the new TVK administration’s law‑and‑order record, noting more than 30 murders, robberies and sexual assaults in the first 13 days of its tenure. The resolution accused Congress of “backstabbing” the DMK despite having won five seats with its help.

Congress MP Manickam Tagore responded, calling Stalin’s remarks “irresponsible” and asserting that Congress had “carried him on its shoulders” to become minister and deputy chief minister. Tagore alleged covert talks between DMK and AIADMK, allegedly facilitated by the BJP, to prevent actor‑turned‑politician Vijay from becoming chief minister. He warned that any understanding with the BJP would not be tolerated by the Congress.
