DN 73 road modernization nears completion after 15 years

The modernization of National Road 73 (DN 73), connecting Brașov, Câmpulung Muscel, and Pitești, is nearing completion after 15 years of construction and delays. The project covers a 74-kilometer sector and is considered strategically important for the Rucăr–Bran Corridor and the local economies of the Brașov and Argeș regions.

The project faced significant setbacks, including contractual issues that led to repeated work stoppages. After nine years of stagnation following the initial 2011 start, the original contract was terminated in 2020. Work resumed in 2024 after the National Administration of Road Infrastructure (CNAIR) divided the project into two lots to accelerate execution.

Lot 1 (Câmpulung Muscel – Fundata) spans 37.6 km with an investment of approximately 426 million lei and is currently undergoing administrative reception procedures. Lot 2 (Fundata – Brașov) covers about 36 km with an investment of approximately 213 million lei; major roadwork is finished, with only final road markings remaining. The total investment for both sections is approximately 639 million lei.
