Dénia beaches witness rare simultaneous loggerhead turtle hatching

In a rare biological event, two loggerhead turtle nests hatched almost simultaneously on the beaches of Dénia. The simultaneous hatching was unprecedented for this specific coastal area.

Technicians and volunteers from Eucrante monitored the process, which saw approximately 140 hatchlings make their first journey to the sea. The first nest, named 'Mona', produced nearly 70 turtles during the early morning hours. The second nest, named 'Diana', showed no prior warning signs before a large number of hatchlings emerged, contributing another 70 individuals with a nearly 90% success rate. An additional six turtles emerged from the first nest an hour later, completing the group.
