Dánica plant to close in Llavallol after 90 years

The Dánica margarine plant in Llavallol, Argentina, will permanently cease operations on September 30 after nearly 90 years of history. The decision was announced by Dorada S.A., citing an inability to reverse long-standing economic, productive, and operational difficulties that threatened the facility's viability.

Despite previous restructuring efforts and measures intended to improve competitiveness and preserve jobs, the company stated that sustainable operations could not be achieved. The shutdown process will proceed in accordance with current environmental regulations.

In response to the announcement, approximately 30 remaining employees have set up a tent in front of the factory to organize shifts while awaiting official responses. The Sindicato de Obreros y Empleados de la Industria Aceitera (SOEIA), led by Ezequiel Roldán, has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labor of the Province of Buenos Aires, requesting an urgent hearing with company representatives. Union leaders noted that workers had not received formal dismissal notices via telegram or official documents, only the notice posted at the factory gate.
