Dorada S.A. Llavallol plant closure

Overview

Dorada S.A., producer of the Dánica brand, has announced the permanent closure of its historic margarine plant in Llavallol, Buenos Aires province. The facility, which has operated for nearly 90 years, is scheduled to cease all operations on September 30.

The company cited an inability to overcome long-standing economic, productive, and operational difficulties despite previous attempts to improve competitiveness and preserve jobs. This closure follows similar instances of the plant facing shutdown in 2020 and late 2024.

The decision affects approximately 30 to 35 employees. In response, workers have set up a tent in front of the factory to organize shifts while awaiting official responses. The Sindicato de Obreros y Empleados de la Industria Aceitera (SOEIA) has rejected the announcement and filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labor of the Province of Buenos Aires. Union leaders reported that workers had not received formal dismissal notices via official documents, only the notice posted at the factory gate.
