The Comissão Vitivinícola Regional (CVR) of the Dão demarcated wine region announced that the 2026 harvest is expected to deliver up to a 5 % increase in wine output compared with the 2025 campaign. The projection is based on favourable climatic conditions recorded in the first half of 2026 – a moderately warm and very rainy winter followed by a hot, moderately dry spring – which accelerated vine development and ensured adequate water reserves in the vines.

CVR president Manuel Pinheiro highlighted the good state of the vineyards and a reduced pressure from vine diseases, noting only isolated incidents in more vulnerable plots. Laboratory coordinator Ana Rodrigues of the Colab Vines & Wines research centre added that the overall viticultural year has been “globally positive”, supporting expectations of not only higher volume but also improved grape quality, which could translate into “great wines” for the market. The estimate does not take into account any further factors that may affect the final production later in the season.
