Doce Maravilha festival cancels first day due to weather

The Doce Maravilha music festival, held at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, faced disruption as organizers canceled the first day of performances due to extreme weather warnings. Following an "extreme alert" from the Civil Defense regarding strong winds of up to 90 km/h, the decision was made to prioritize the safety of the public and staff. Ticket holders for the canceled Friday sessions can request a refund or use their passes for the remaining weekend dates.

Despite the weather challenges, the festival's lineup features major Brazilian artists. Scheduled highlights include Caetano Veloso performing with Emicida, and Paulinho da Viola appearing with Maria Bethânia. Other programming includes Chico Chico with Juliana Linhares and Leci Brandão with Rappin’ Hood.

In other cultural news, TV Brasil is broadcasting a special dedicated to the work of Caetano Veloso through the 'Só Caetano' project. Led by Paula and Jaques Morelenbaum, the performance was recorded at the Espaço Cultural do BNDES and features various hits from the composer's career. Additionally, the Arte1 channel has premiered 'Amostradas,' a documentary series exploring the creative processes of six artists from Brazil's North and Northeast regions.
