Docomo Bank launches with new branding and point rewards in Japan

On August 3, Sumishin SBI Net Bank, pending regulatory approval, changed its name to Docomo SM‑TB Net Bank and rebranded its consumer banking service as “Docomo Bank.” The former “d NEOBANK” brand was discontinued, and the mobile app was renamed to “Docomo Bank Docomo SM‑TB Net Bank App.” The new brand promises up to a 4.5 % d‑point cash‑back rate on everyday purchases, integration with the d Account, and enhanced rewards when linked with d Card and Monex Securities accounts.

Ahead of the launch, V NEOBANK announced a reduction of its point‑program benefits effective November 1. It will end point awards for yen‑savings balances, lower debit‑card cash‑back from 1.5 % to 1.25 %, and halve points for large inter‑bank transfers. The changes affect many users who previously earned points simply for maintaining balances, creating a contrast with the more generous rewards offered by the newly launched Docomo Bank.
