DocsMX documentary festival to open in Mexico City
The 21st DocsMX international documentary festival is scheduled to take place in Mexico City from October 22 to October 31, 2026. The festival will feature 74 films across six sections, including the ‘Hecho en México’ section dedicated to local productions. Venues include the Cineteca Nacional in Coyoacán.
Among the featured works is the documentary ‘Hijas del bosque’ by Otilia Portillo Padua. After receiving the Audience Award at South by Southwest (SXSW), the film will have its Mexican premiere at the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) before screening at DocsMX. The documentary follows two young scientists, Eliseete Ramírez Carbajal and Julieta Serafina Amaya Pérez, as they explore the relationship between fungal networks and indigenous ancestral knowledge in the forests of central and southern Mexico.
