Doctor assaulted at Mancha Centro Hospital in Alcázar de San Juan
A doctor working in the Emergency Department of the Hospital Universitario Mancha Centro in Alcázar de San Juan was assaulted by a patient on Saturday, August 8. According to medical unions, the patient became aggressive while the doctor was attempting to complete a clinical history, striking her in the face and causing her glasses to fall. While the physician did not suffer physical injuries, the incident has caused significant emotional impact.
The medical union CESM CLM and the CSIF union have both condemned the attack, calling for a “zero tolerance” policy against violence toward healthcare professionals. CSIF noted that similar incidents have occurred recently, including a verbal assault and intimidation at the Tomelloso II health center in July. Both organizations are demanding increased security measures, judicial responses to such violence, and specialized training for staff to improve communication and prevent similar confrontations.
