Brasiléia: Doctor Elyne de Assis Nogueira murdered in suspected femicide

Elyne de Assis Nogueira, a 39-year-old doctor, was shot and killed on November 2 while sitting at a bar in Brasiléia, Acre. The attack was captured by security cameras, showing a man wearing a helmet and a red cap approaching the victim and firing multiple shots.

Francisco Valadares Neto, a municipal prosecutor and former city councilman, is being investigated as a suspect in the murder. The victim reportedly had active protective measures against him, including a prohibition on contact and a panic button, but two previous requests for his preventive detention were denied by the judiciary. The Court of Justice of Acre (TJAC) stated that prior denials were based on technical reports that did not show a breach of protective measures at that time.

Witnesses reported that the victim activated her panic button during the incident, but no security team arrived at the location. The crime occurred near the headquarters of the 5th Military Police Battalion. Following the murder, the judiciary decreed the preventive arrest of Valadares Neto and authorized search and seizure warrants.
