Doctor warns against ignoring night sweats and fever after young man dies of lymphoma

Emergency physician Wu Zhaoxin has issued a medical warning regarding the dangers of ignoring persistent night symptoms, following the death of a man in his 20s due to lymphoma.

The patient, a young man surnamed Chen living in Taipei, experienced persistent fevers and heavy night sweats for over three months. Due to his history of being athletic and healthy, he dismissed these symptoms as temporary or related to hot weather. Even after a large, painful lump appeared behind his ear in the fourth month, he initially resisted cancer diagnoses and sought only to treat the localized swelling.

Ultimately, the patient was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. His case serves as a critical reminder that prolonged unexplained fever and night sweats, especially when accompanied by weight loss, fatigue, or swollen lymph nodes, require immediate medical investigation.
