Dodge Charger expected to return with high-performance V8 engine
Dodge is expected to reintroduce a high-performance version of the Charger, potentially featuring a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat engine. While Stellantis has confirmed the return of the HEMI V8 engine within its strategy through 2030, the company has not officially linked the V8 specifically to a new Charger SRT model.
Reports suggest production of a 6.2-liter supercharged variant could begin as early as late 2027. Due to corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards, production volume for such high-performance models may be limited to approximately 12,000 units annually to minimize the impact on the manufacturer's overall fleet fuel economy averages.
Industry speculation indicates that while the SRT variant is planned for both two-door and four-door body styles, the specific engine configuration remains unconfirmed. The V8 engine could also be utilized in other Stellantis products, such as Ram pickups.
