Dodge transitions muscle car lineup from gas to electric and hybrid options

Dodge has officially ended production of its gas-powered Challenger and Charger models, marking a transition from internal combustion engines to electric performance. The decision follows tightening emissions regulations and Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, as well as a strategic shift by parent company Stellantis toward electrification.

While the brand is pivoting toward the all-electric Charger Daytona, Dodge is also introducing a transitional combustion option to retain enthusiasts. The upcoming 2026 Charger Sixpack will feature a twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six engine, producing 420 horsepower in the R/T trim and 550 horsepower in the Scat Pack. This model aims to provide authentic engine sound and mechanical performance, offering both all-wheel drive and a selectable rear-wheel drive mode for enthusiasts.
