Dolly Parton legacy honored through global literacy fundraisers

Communities in the United Kingdom and the United States are organizing events to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton and support her literacy initiatives.

In Helensburgh, the community is hosting various fundraisers for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that has provided free books to nearly 400 children through the Helensburgh Community Hub. Upcoming activities include a ‘Dolly Dook’ fundraising swim at Duck Bay on October 4 and a ‘Helensburgh Noir’ event on December 3 to raise further funds for the project.

In Harrisville, Michigan, the Alcona County Library will host ‘Dolly Parton Day’ on September 25. The event will include a film and a bake sale to benefit the Imagination Library of Alcona and Iosco Counties. Attendees are encouraged to dress in themed attire to celebrate the singer's impact.
