Dolly Parton honored with murals and corn mazes across North America

Following the death of country music icon Dolly Parton on August 25 at age 80, various tributes are appearing across North America. In Fort Worth, Texas, artist Juan Velasquez painted a large mural of Parton on the side of the historic Stagecoach Ballroom to honor her legacy.

Additionally, approximately 20 farms across the United States and Canada have created elaborate corn mazes featuring Parton’s likeness. Designed by The Maize Inc., these mazes are part of an annual campaign to honor country music stars. The agricultural tributes serve a dual purpose by raising money and awareness for the Imagination Library, a literacy program founded by Parton that provides free books to children.

The mazes, which were planned months prior to her passing, span roughly a dozen U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. They often include Parton-themed trivia and photo opportunities for visitors.
